Veteran actor and filmmaker Stephen Michael Kelly directed short drama short film “I Can’t Save You” tells the story of a cop who has been suspended from the force when he accidentally shoots his partner during an operation. From then onwards, his life starts going downhill. He faces divorce from his beloved wife and his little daughter. Now, after losing everything, he wants to reconcile with his wife and daughter. The film stars Stephen Michael Kelly himself along with Gloria El-Achkar.

Currently he is busy working on his upcoming romantic comedy film “Mikey Blue Eyes.” The film will feature Stephen Michael Kelly himself with veteran actors like Artie Pasquale, Joe Cirillo.
Overview
The film starts with a beautiful drone shot with an emotional song in the background. We get introduced to the main characters of the story. The divorcee suspended cop Walter (Stephen Michael Kelly) and his wife Valerie (Gloria El-Achkar). They are sitting in a car while Walter is literally begging his ex wife Valerie to see his daughter Katie.
We come to know that Walter used to be a cop. But during an operation, he accidentally shoots his partner Kevin which results in his suspension from the force. He explains how difficult it is for him to live a normal life now. The only thing remaining in his life is his wife and daughter. Walter wants to get back with his family once again. But Valerie tells her only one word, “I Can’t Save You.” The film ends with a wonderful shot of their daughter Katie facing the Sun with a teddy bear.
Review
Director Stephen Michael Kelly knows how to evoke emotions. We’ve seen this in his critically acclaimed film “No Mas.” In this film also, he beautifully crafted a poignant tale of a suspended cop who wants to reconcile with his daughter. Stephen Michael Kelly in the skin of Walter is phenomenon in the film. From his dialogue delivery to his helplessness, every thing in the film is top notch. Gloria El-Achkar also shines in her part as Valerie.
Another positive aspect of the film is the visuals. Cinematography is wonderful in the film with every frame looking like a painting. The makers have treated this film as a musical film. From the very start of the film, we constantly hear a very emotional song. This treatment adds another layer in the narrative.
