However his breakthrough into independent filmmaking is with his 2022 animated short film “Drone Runner” for which he received several awards and appreciations from several film festivals. Now the filmmaker is back with the continuation of “Drone Runner.” His latest animated short film “Drone Runner 2” won the best science fiction in the main category in the Elegant International Film Festival.
Overview
“Drone Runner 2” follows the story of a peaceful human colony at the edge of the galaxy. One fine day several drones start attacking the planet killing every human who comes across them. The leaders of the drone troops are Asina and Obito. They killed every human being on that planet except for one survivor, one of two identical twin sisters. One of the sisters survived the vicious attack.
An artificial intelligence named Brian saves her. But after waking up after several years’ of coma she discovers that she is suffering from a memory loss and one of her twin sisters’ was a drone runner. But she cannot remember whether she is the drone runner or not. With the help of AI Brian, the survivor starts training to be a drone runner and after a tiring training, the survivor is ready to take down the drone troops and their leaders Obito and Asina who are responsible for her sister’s death.
With her newfound power and skills, she goes to that planet where several drones are roaming. She masterfully with the help of AI Brian takes down every drone including their leaders.
Review
Vincent Scuro masterfully showcases how the technologies can go against humans. The story wonderfully follows the “Rise Of The Hero” arc. With its old school animation, we can get the feel of those early 2000s games. The messaging in the narrative is loud and clear which is good. The film shows both the positive and negative aspects of the film in the form of the merciless drones and the AI Brian.
The director sketches the proper character arc of the survivor all the way from the starting to the end with a suspense whether she is the previous drone runner or not.

In short, Vincent Scuro directed short animated film “Drone Runner 2” excels in its storytelling and giving the main character a proper arc with some amazing action sequences.
